Meet The Founder
Hi I'm Andrea Sarmiento, the founder of Delata
Andrea is a Colombian woman with a deep love for art, culture, craftsmanship and the stories that live within them. Born and raised in Colombia, she grew up surrounded by vibrant traditions and the strength of women who carry generations of knowledge in their hands.
A desire to stay connected
At 18, she moved to Australia in search of something new, a place to grow, explore and build her own future. She fell in love with the country, its people and the freedom it offered, yet her heart remained tied to Colombia.
DeLata was born from that longing, a desire to stay connected to her roots while creating something meaningful and transformative.
Driven by a profound commitment to sustainable fashion and social impact
Andrea collaborates closely with a group of 14 single mothers in Colombia. Together they exchange ideas, design sophisticated pieces and preserve traditional craftsmanship. Andrea has built long lasting relationships with these artisans and their families, working to empower them through stable income, resources and tools that help protect their culture, their artistry and their futures.
Each DeLata piece is co designed by Andrea and crafted one collection at a time, blending Colombian heritage with contemporary design and emerging trends. The result is a range of unique, elevated accessories that honour both the maker and the wearer.
Sustainability sits at the heart of her work
By transforming recycled aluminium pull tabs into wearable art, Andrea contributes to a circular movement, giving new life to discarded materials while reducing waste and celebrating handmade craftsmanship.
For Andrea, DeLata is more than a brand
It is her bridge between two worlds, Australia and Colombia, and a living social project that uplifts communities, supports women and helps protect the planet.
A story of purpose, passion and the power of design to create real change.
Empowering Single Mothers In Colombia
Delata partners with a group of 14 single mothers from Martires, one of the most underdeveloped communities in Bogota.
Each woman is given the chance to transform recycled materials into beautiful handcrafted pieces, creating steady income that directly improves life for herself and her family.
Every Delata purchase fuels their growth, dignity and independence.
When you choose Delata, you choose to uplift a woman, her children and her future.
